Impressions of Russia

If you use your imagination the Island Sakhalin looks a little like a fish.
The tail is just above the northern most Japanese Island, Hokkaido. The main city in Sakhalin is Yusno Sakhalinsk and along with the disputed Kuril group of islands is the most Eastern Russian territory.

I went to the island on six occasions;
- twice in the spring when the ice and snow was beginning to thaw, and
- four times in the fall, when the Autumn leaves were golden and falling and when the very first snow of the winter was due to arrive.
Rob

Rob wrote about his impressions of Russia in a book. An abridged version is attached as a PDF for you to view.  If you would like to read the full version, please contact us at marshallnz@xtra.co.nz

Russian Fable - Dylan and Dasha

During Rob's visit to Sahkalin Island, he was told a Russian Fable about Dylan, Dasha and the Dragon.

This is re-told in Rob's words, based on his interpretation.
